8vo. 252 pp. Maroon cloth with gold lettering on front cover and spine. Frontis piece displaying b/w facsimile photograph f the author with a facsimile of his signature underneath. Joseph Leonard Levy was an English Rabbi and graduate of the University of London. He emigrated to Pennsylvania in 1889. He was a member of the radical wing of the Jewish community and appeared on the lecture platforms in nearly every state of America as well as in England, Scotland and Wales. He introduced the interdenominational thanksgiving service in Pittsburgh and even founded the "Home of Delight" a radical social settlement. In 1905 he sponsored the foundation of the Pittsburgh Peace Society. A trustee of Hebrew Union College, the National Hospital for Consumptives, a member of the Universal Peace Union, a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and the Royal Meteorological Society. He authored a number of books including "A Graduated Text Book of Religion," "Nineteenth Century Prophets," "Founders of the Faiths," sixteen volumes of sermon s and this work.
