Text clean, light even age-toning. Moderate shelf handling wear with some age-soiling. First published in 1897 [BAL 15387], this beautifully illustrated book is a fine example of American Book Arts from the early 20th century. Gentleman of the Black Stock tells the story of an elderly farmer living on a modest farm in the Carolina Mountains. A widower who has worked the land for nearly fifty years, he is a man of great wisdom, often sharing his insights with the younger visitors to his farm.
