Rebound in antique marbled paper. Cover boards are clean with little wear, remnants of paper label to spine is present. Ribbon book marker is present. Hand colored frontispiece with numerous B&W illustrations throughout. Binding is solid. Some foxing on end papers and darkening to margins of pages that does no t impinge on text or illustrations. Otherwise interior pages are clean & unmarked except for prior owner's name inked to second front free end paper. *** Andrew White Tuer (1838-1900) settled in London in 1856 thinking he would become a doctor but soon set himself up as a wholesale stationer and later a publisher. His firm became known for its illustrated books and particularly for reprints of old children's books. Following his partner's death, The Leadenhall Press was formed. Bookseller Inventory # 002773
