First Edition. Limited Edition: No. 267 of 1500 copies. xv, 281 pp. Original attractive blue cloth with gilt designs on the covers and spine. Two short tears along one spine edge, slight foxing on the end sheets, Very Good. All 55 plates called for are present, and the 7 color plates are particularly attractive. This book has an interesting provenance. It contains the bookplate of Eleanor Houston Smith and Lawrence M. C. Smith, both from old Philadelphia families. Mrs. Smith was a Distinguished Daughter of Pennsylvania and served on the Historical Commission of Pennsylvania and the Board of Governors of the Nature Conservancy. Mr. Smith served in several position of the Franklin D. Roosevelt administration and UNESCO. He was awarded Chevalier of the Legion d'Honneur of France, Brazil's Order of the Southern Cross, and the Order of the British Empire. Both had many more accomplishments.
