Fourth Edition. 8vo. pp. xxii, [2], 264. Original marbled sheep with gilt spine and morocco label. Head cap neatly restored; some areas of rubbing. Pages are generally clean. All edges are dyed red. Samuel Auguste Andre David Tissot (1728-1797) was a famous medical practitioner in Lausanne. He wrote treatises on epilepsy and other nervous diseases. [Garrison, Hist. of Medicine, p.298]. Tissot's most famous work, L'Onanisme, a classic on the subject, was first published in Latin as Tentamen de morbis ex manustupratione in the author's 1758 edition of Dissertatio de febribus biliosis.
