Synopsis: Children with autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, behavioral disorders and English Language Learners often face more social challenges in this area than their peers. Written by an experienced special educator and behavior therapist, this book helps educational professionals create an open and inviting school environment for these children, promoting understanding and helping them feel like they belong. A multitude of suggestions for developing programs that teach critical social skills include circle games and activities, book clubs, relationships circles and much more.

About the Author: Mary Schlieder, M.S., is a special educator experienced working with all ages of students, ranging from preschoolers through adults, in both public school and residential settings. She is currently a behavior specialist in the Norris Public School District, and enjoys conducting workshops teaching schools how to create their own communities of support for kids with social challenges. An upstate New York transplant, Mary now makes her home in Nebraska and is adjusting to an empty nest after recently launching her three amazing boys.
