Synopsis: Most of us live with a shallow understanding of the Bible. Whether it is lack of time or pure laziness, the majority of us who profess to be Christians never get around to mining the deeper spiritual nuggets from scripture, knowledge God desires every man to know. Author Dana Taggart confronts us with the bottom line of that knowledge. Do I know God? Does my life reflect that knowledge?

Open His Gift answers the questions people have about why Jesus Christ did what He did and what it can mean to them personally. It is the profound made simple. Most people have been to church and heard a pearl here and a pearl there, but Dana Taggart’s new book, Open His Gift, is the necklace strung.

In a page-turning look at man’s accountability to God, Taggart hooks readers in a personal way taking them from creation to Calvary. It is bedrock Bible doctrine handled in an innovative, refreshing way. Brought to a point of a possible conversion experience, the reader is ultimately left at the Judgment Seat of Christ having been given a deep desire to grow and serve.

About the Author: A native Texan, Dana Taggart lived a life of laughter and privilege until her twenties when her Camelot world was shattered by the suicide deaths of her mother and younger sister within a five year period. Taggart grew up in a mainline denominational church and experienced conversion to Christ while attending the University of Texas, but when life as she had known it crumbled, she began a personal quest for truth. Seeking something she could bank on to carry her through this life and beyond, she explored many belief systems including Christianity. This search ultimately led to an unshakable belief that the Bible is a miracle and holds the answer to life.

Taggart’s book, Open His Gift, contains material she has presented orally to groups of adults, on college campuses, and one-on-one for years. Described as a "great story-teller," Taggart has built a career of Bible teaching, writing, and public speaking about her passion, the "how and why" of knowing God. Taggart holds a special place in her heart for educated and affluent members of society for whom she feels there is little effective outreach. "They too are searching for meaning in life yet many are intimidated by the mere thought of witnessing to them," says Taggart. "People in prison have more opportunities to meet Christ than they do."

Taggart has led regional, interdenominational Bible studies for more than 15 years and has spoken at youth and adult retreats, on college campuses, and at Christian and secular events. She was trained as a Community Bible Study Teaching Director in California and was a CBS Teaching Director for six years. She recently co-authored a study on the Gospel of Matthew.

Dana and her husband George have spent the past 29 years residing in Rockport, Texas and ranching in south Texas. They have three grown children, Wade, Nathan and Claire, and two grandchildren.
