Binding expertly repaired with spine laid down. Large paper copy uncut. Volume II has two parts. Collation: Vol. I [3] 4-313pp + 15 folding copper plates; Vol. II - [22] 1-202 [1] 205-226[2] [2]-72 [2] 75-104 [2] 107-134 [2] 157-184pp + 42 copper plates (plate 14 in Optica as facsimilie). Contents for each volume: Vol I - 1. Tractatus de Lumine. Dissertatio de Causa Gravitatis. Geometrica demonstratio Theorematum Hugenianorum circa Logisticam, seu Logarithmicam Lineam, Addita epistola Geometrica ad P. Thomam Cevan S,J, Auctore D. Guidone Grando Cremonensi. Vol II. Pt. I.- . 1. Opuscula Posthuma: Dioptrica. Commentarii de formandis poliendisque vitris ad Telescopia. Pt. II. - Opuscula Posthuma: Dissertatio de Coronis et Parheliis. T ractatus De motu, et VI Centrifuga. Descriptio Automati Planetarii. Original binding with repair to hinges, spine laid down. Spine with raised bands, floral gilt stamp in panels, and gilt author and title and volume number in separate panels. The text is on large uncut paper. There is occasional damp staining in upper gutter and at edge of one plate outside plate mark. The text has general light toning and occasional minor foxing. The introduction to this work is by G. J. Gravesande. The sections of this Opera are edited by Burchardus de Volder and Bernardus Fullenius. The subject sections of these two volumes include some of previously published treatises by Huygens in 1703 as Posthuma Opuscula.
