About this Item

First Edition, 1887. An essay 'read before the Sette at Willis's Rooms, on Friday, May 6th, 1887 by Charles Welsh, Chapman of the Sette. Imprinted by Brother C. W. H. Wyman, Typographer to ye Sette, o ver against Lincoln's Inne Fields, within ye Parish of Saynt giles in ye Fields.' includes 21 page catalog of colored children's books, a bibliography of the Privately Printed Opuscula issued to the Sette, a list of the members of the Sette and a lovely hand-colored frontispiece illustration, 'Playing with Baby'. 12mo. in grey imprinted wraps. Sewn binding. Limited to 255 numbered copies of which this is number 124. Signed by James Robert Brown, Alchymist to the Sette. There is foxing across most of the pages (not on the frontispiece, thankfully), much of which would be described as 'light', however it is bold on the few pages following the title page. There is a reading crease on the cover along the spine and very minor wear at the spine ends. The binding is brittle with age and has cracked near the center signature. A fascinating book. Size: 16mo - over 5 3/4 in - 6 3/4 in Tall. Bookseller Inventory # BBS-016614
