The author, Alexander Hill Everett (1792-1847), delivered this speech on the importance of the Declaration of Independence shortly after returning from serving as the United States ambassador to Spain. He served in the Massachusetts legislature from 1803 to 1835. In Good- Condition: old dampstain throughout; primarily along fore-edge after first 5 leaves; slight chipping along untrimmed lower edges and fore-edges; lacking lower corner of next to last leaf and one-quarter of last leaf without loss of text.
