The first Greek-Latin edition of the Orations of Isocrates issued in Venice. IN full 19th century calf neatly rebacked with matching calf and a fine red morocco gilt label on spine. Engraved title page, overall very good copy. Isocrates 436-338 was a pupil of Socrates during the period of the 30 Tyrants and had a school of oratory on Chios, he straved himself to death at 98 to protest Philip's conquest of his beloved Athens.
