About this title

The Soviets fielded an army of truly massive proportions in World War Two. This is a highly detailed monthly report of ALL Soviet Army Troop Unit assignments in July and August 1942. Listings go from Fronts , and then Armies, with all independent units down to Battalion listed, including all those subordinate to the "Front", such as Armored Train Battalions, and aviation units. Also included are all units assigned to "Military Districts", and even non-operational Fronts such as the Trans Caucasus ,Central Asian and Trans Baikal Military Districts .This series of books will give the reader and researcher an idea of the strength of the forces that made up the Soviet Army in the most massive military operations in history. The objective of this series is to trace the growth of the Soviet armies and lay out the units that formed those armies in a clear manner that will paint an accurate picture of the massive force that faced the onslaught of the German Blitzkrieg in the Summer of 1942 during the opening stages of "Fall Blau" .
