About this Item

"In Rochester during the summer 0f 1980 there were two unusual events that impacted spiritual values and religious thinking. One influence came from Protestant fundalmentalism with an Adventist twist, the other from a conservative Evangelical tradition that addresses daily issues of faith. Both of these had captured the attention of several parishioners from Zumbro Lutheran. In addition, expanding cable television was bringing into Rochester homes a style of Christiantiy that was quite different from the tradition of the Lutheran Confessions and the Reformation. The second response to those 'outside influences' in the summer of 1980 was the start of Lenten Breakfasts that offered an opportunity for Zumbro parishioners to share their faith journeys. here the objective was to provide a public setting where adults could talk openly about their faith. The setting used for several years was a restaurant. The Zumbro group occupied half the seating space for an early morning breakfast. Each week one person was invited to tell something of his or her encounter with God through Jesus Christ." {Duane C. Hoven}. This book has 201 pages. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
