Ray Hatton, a retired professor of geography, has written several books about the historical geography and weather of central and eastern Oregon. Larry Chitwood, geologist with the Deschutes National Forest, writes interpretive and professional articles and gives talks about the remarkable geology of central Oregon. Dr. Stuart Garrett, a family physician, is co-founder and president of the High Desert Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Oregon. He has a strong interest in the native vegetation of the central Oregon region.
