Profusely illustrated throughout with color reproductions of the beautiful carpets in the Kirchheim collection. The collection "consists of five distinctive sections, each of which could easily stand alone as an exemplary thematic collection. The 18th and 19th century Caucasian rugs are completed by a superb group of so-called 'Caucasian' embroideries. The 'classical' Caucasian and related carpets are probably the largest such group in private hands anywhere, only rivaled in scope by the collections at the Türk ve Islam Eserleri Museum in Istanbul and the Textile Museum in Washington D. C. There is a strong selection of early Anatolian kilims, and also of 17th to 19th century Anatolian rugs. But the crowning glory of the collection is the astonishing group of 13th to 16th century Anatolian rugs" (Alan Marcuson). Contributions by Michael Franses, Heinrich Kirchheim, Jürg Rageth, Friedrich Spuhler, Gary Muse, and Eberhard Herrmann. Slipcase moderately sunned and soiled. Binding lightly rubbed.
