Half leather with marbled boards. Gilt ornamentation on the spines. Small bookbinder's stamp on the first endpaper of each indicate these were bound by J. Larkins (perhaps Jeremiah Larkins). xvii, 319; 352; 377 pp. Three illustrations in volume 1. A collection of plays written by various early (mostly from the 1500s) English playwrights, preceded by short introductory commentary on the piece and the author, where available. This includes 'Candlemas-day or the Killing of the children of Israel;' 'Every-Man, a Morality;' 'Hycke-Scorner. A morality;' ' An Enterlude called Lusty Juventus;' 'Gammer Gurton's Needle;' 'The Spanish Tragedy;' 'David and Bethsabe;' 'Ferrex and Porrex;' 'Supposes: A comedy;' ' Satiro-Mastix;' 'The Return from Parnassus,' and others. GOOD condition. General fading, with minor to moderate scuffing, heavier to the leather along the hinges and extremities. Minor foxing along the fore edges, with very minor scattered foxing in the interior. Several pages a bit shorter in width across, these also being unopened along the fore edge.
