Original autographed letter signed by Charles H. Joy to C. W. Lewis. Paris. 1888. 2 pages. 4 3/4 X 7 1/2 inches. Charles H. Joy (d. circa 1892) was a wealthy Boston art collector. C.W. Lewis, to whom this letter is written, was a scholar who studied the life of Daniel Webster (1782-1852) and published at least two pamphlets on him. In the letter Joy tells Lewis that he has a "portrait" after first Mrs. Daniel Webster (nee Fletcher) and that he will show it to Lewis when he returns from Paris to Boston. The painting to which Joy refers is by the artist Charles Harding. Letter has been folded and is clean. Envelope does not have its stamp. Bookseller Inventory # 018364
