Circa 1860s. Original carte de viste photo portrait (seated, facing right). Card dimensions 2 1/2 x 4 inches, photo 2 1/4 x 3 1/2 inches. Henry Petty-Fitzmaurice, 3rd Marquess of Lansdowne, (1780-1863) was a very influential Whig statesman during the reigns of George III, George IV, William IV and Victoria. Among other appointments, he served as the Home Secretary, Chancellor of the Exchequer and the Lord President of the Council. His father, William Petty, 1st Marquess of Lansdowne, was Prime Minister from 1782-1783. Bookseller Inventory # 15034
