The award is a solid block of clear lucite with Billy WilderÕs autograph signature etched large into the front of the block. The bottom edge of the block is etched in block letters: MCAC AWARD FOR DISTINGUISHED ACHIEVEMENT - SEPTEMBER 24, 1982. The award is 8 inches wide by 5 1/2 inches by 1 3/4 inches thick. Accompanied by the original cloth and velvet lined presentation box. Also laid in is an autograph letter signed from a noted member of the Art Council to Wilder regarding his award. In addition, to being one of the greatest film directors of the 20th Century, Billy Wilder was a highly noted collector and promoter of modern art. Wilder was a contributor to and promoter of the Modern and Contemporary Art Council of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, whose mission was to acquire and promote art for the museum, and he received this award for his work.
