10 1/2 x 13 inches. With the stamp "Irving Lippman, Warner Bros and First National" on back. Robert Milton (b. 1885--d. 1956) was Russian born but came to America while still a child. He was both a successful theatrical and film director, especially in the 1920's and 1930's. He is considered an early advocate of the Stanislavsky method. Milton inscribes the photograph to Hal Mohr (so noted on the back of the photo). Mohr (b. 1894--d. 1974) was an Oscar winning cinematographer, both in 1935 and 1943. They worked together on the film "Outward Bound" in 1930, with Milton directing and Mohr filming. Milton inscribes the photo, which shows him sitting on a director's chair reading a script: "Heres to you and I / Hurrah our / wife's away./ Bob." Mohr was married to the actress Evelyn Venable.
