Stereograph on tan board (7 x 3 1/2 inch) with title across the bottom. Images of the leveled town of St. Pierre buried in ash with survivors looking for remaining goods. On 8 May 1902 Mount Pelee erupted, causing a pyroclastic flow which killed all but three survivors in the town of St. Pierre. It is regarded as the worst volcanic explosion during the 20th century.
