Original Watercolor Drawings. Seven facsimile leaves on linen paper with original pen-and-ink and water-color drawings. Originally bound by Riviere. From the collection of Eldredge H. Johnson, founder of the Victor Talking Machine company. George Cruikshank was born in London of Scottish parents. He etched backgrounds in some of his father's art work and by 1810 had established his reputation as an illustrator. His work is noted for accurate details and gives a varied view of nineteenth century English life. He illustrated works by Dickens, Thackeray, Fielding, Goldsmith, Smollett, Ainsworth and Shakespeare. Cruikshank was a great comic etcher. Size: Facsimile Bound Reprint Edition.
