About this Item

3-1/4 x 6-1/4, (16) pp., fire-engine red covers, black and red on white text, the whole diecut in shape of a large barrel of oil, unmistakably drawing attention to the superior gas mileage claim for the 1936 Dodge. On cover: "You can save six 55-gallon barrels of gas each year because Dodge gives 3 to 5 more miles per gallon." Circular halftone inside of front of car; red ram superimposed on photo of Dodge motor. "This astonishing economy has been deliberately built into the famous Dodge engine. The Dodge 'Red Ram' engine today combines many economy features." Red and black illustrations of Dodge full-length water jackets, valve seat inserts, automatic water temperature control, aluminum steel-strut pistons, high compression cylinder head, and other engine features to achieve fuel economy. At top of each page, in red script, "Save Money." In centerfold, handsome photo of the Dodge Four-Door Touring Sedan with Trunk, "The Big Money-Saving Dodge, Beauty Winner of 1936." Old dampstaining lower right portion, envelope flap residue on front cover, minor wear, else good. One of the most striking and unusual examples of auto sales literature we've seen, and a wonderful conversation piece for the Dodge specialist or generalist alike. (Example in slightly better condition listed separately.). Bookseller Inventory # 13741
