Description:

Original trade catalog for International Harvester. 672 pages. Paperback: H 24.25cm x L 17.5cm. Red paper covers well soiled with worn corners; stained black cloth over spine. Text block edge were strongly soiled but now cleaned by sandpapering. Moisture staining strongest on initial leaves with some red color bleed but ever diminishing through first 100 pages or so; much lighter moisture staining to several rear leaves with red color bleed from rear cover mostly affecting last six pages or so. Creasing/curling to top fore-edge corners inclusive to page 60 or so; lesser wear to other corners; scattered soiling and occasionally strong fingerprint smudges to interior pages but majority of leaves actually remain quite clean. Binding remains firm. A good copy. No publication date specified but probably late 1930s; OCLC locates only one institutional holding (Henry Ford Museum) of this "General Catalog No. 40" and cites publication date as "approximately 1940." Laid-in between pages 278-279 is an original one-sided, color-printed complimentary pass to the Washington County Fair, Kingston, Rhode Island for September 1931 but likely that's a few years too early for the catalog itself. Innumerable b/w images throughout showing all sorts (presumably their entire product line) of International Harvester agricultural equipment. Although no prices are specified, most every product has some combination of descriptive text, specifications, shipping weight, dimensions, optional equipment, etc. Reviews everything from simple plows, harrows, cultivators, listers, grain drills, tractor mowers, grain binders, ensilage cutters, potato diggers, middlebusters, really cool TracTracTors, stationary engines, stainless steel cream separators, milkers, wagon boxes, fertilizer distributors, etc., etc. Bookseller Inventory #
