About this Item

3 x 5 1/2" A rare original image showing the "Ikunuhkatsi" or "All Comrades" warrior society Indian Chiefs of the Kainai Blackfoot Tribe. What is nice is the full range of the ceremonial items. The society was first noted in the Piegan Tibe of the Siksika in 1892 when it was then called the "sinopah". Thought originally by many to be extinct in the 1860's but it continued among the Kainai or "Blood Tribe" people. The photograph itself is a RPPC with AZO box dating to about 1915. The photographer initial 'RY" is however unknown. A very good copy in protective plastic. Bookseller Inventory # 018425
