Original photograph, 6 x 9.75 inches, date unknown, mounted on matboard trimmed to size, ca. 1967. Depicts an overcast day at a provincial Irish village, with chickens and a donkey grazing the grass in the foreground. In very good condition with slightest bumping to the corners and two small tape remainders on the verso. Letter of provenance (not included) indicates that these prints were acquired by Robert Natkin in a trade with his close friend and fellow artist, Paul Caponigro. An excellent example of Caponigro's work in Ireland. Paul Caponigro is considered one of our century's foremost landscape photographers. Having studied with Minor White, Caponigro's technical genius is apparent in each image and is proof of his printing philosophy: "Technique must serve and not dominate a craft which requires creative movement." His hope is that his viewers will allow the prints to speak for themselves. "One might become aware of suggestions whispered by the interaction of tonalities within each print. It is a silent realm worth exploring.". Bookseller Inventory #
