Book Description The Mercat Press, Edinburgh, 1990. Quarter Red Leather. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. Reprint. 227pp. 1990 reprint. 8vo. sized. A unique book with a unique binding. Bound with quarter red morocco leather - gilt embossed to the spine over wooden boards - the front board carved with the Orkney Islands Crest and a small Orkney carved vignette to the rear board. This copy a presentation copy from Hugh Halcro-Johnstone to Douglas Sinclair and flat-signed by Halcro-Johnstone. Hugh Halcro-Johnston, a prominent Orkney isolationist, who previously held political control as convenor of the Orkney Islands Council until losing his position in local elections in 2003. The inscription reads: 'For Douglas Sinclair with thanks for your help. Hugh Halcro-Johnstone. Orkney Islands Council July 2001'. Marbled endpapers. Clearly a very limited binding edition - though unfortunately the book doesn't say how many copies were bound like this. 3 light small, slight stain marks to the leading fore-edge with similar slightly larger marks to the rear blank page. Otherwise the book is entirely clean, fresh and crisp looking. Shipping from the UK. Seller Inventory # 238343
