A tale of a the society that develops when a group of orphans, a pair of spinsters, and a hard-drinking Irishman are cast away on an island in the 1850s and are discovered seventy years later. First American edition (first printing). A very good copy in a dust jacket darkened at the spine with a small hole at the hinge. Minor loss to spine ends and spine reinforced with Japanese tissue on the verso (back).
