About the Author: Tim Ernst is the foremost authority on hiking trails in Arkansas, and has been so for more than two decades. He has written more than twenty hiking trail guidebooks, built more than 100 miles of trail, contributed in excess of 20,000 volunteer hours building hiking trails and protecting wilderness areas, and founded and runs the Ozark Highlands Trail Association, the volunteer group that built and maintains the 165 mile Ozark Highlands Trail. Tim also is the leading wilderness photographer in Arkansas, and publishes coffee table picture books in addition to his trail guides. He lives at the edge of the Buffalo River Wilderness, and hikes and writes and takes pictures every day.
