Synopsis

This is a book on heraldry which is different. It is not, as so many heraldry books are, a plagiarism nor is it a precis of an existing work. It is the author's appreciation of a subject he knows about and loves. The size of the book at once precludes it from being either definitive or comprehensive, but it does not stop it from being accurate and I was delighted at the absence of those errors, which writers who are not professional heralds, and in the nature of things few are, so stolidly repeat generation after generation.
