About this title

Synopsis:

First book of the "Universal Poems In Four Dimensions" series by Montréal (Québec, Canada), author, poet and pop-philosopher, Michel André Nadeau.

The matter of this book adresses topics as various as science, philosophy, sociology, psychology, cosmology, logic, morality, art, Zen, life and many more. The poems, koans and tales you will find in this book are a real pleasure to the eye as well as a challenging delight for the mind. They are thought-provoking, witty, spirited and funny.

From the Author:

The story behind the writing of these books is too dense to be related here in a couple of sentences. In fact, the story I’m talking about is that of my own life, surrounded by unanswered questions that have been preoccupying me since I started to think. It’s been at once a pleasure and a nightmare—a schizophrenic ride that has taken me to the lowest lows and the highest highs. Here’s a bit of the story. After going through a major depression and ending my treatment with a therapist, I attempted to write a philosophical essay, which I had entitled "The Archetypal Star Of The Human Experience" (that I still plan to finish one day). The driving idea behind this book was to break down every aspect of our intellectual field to its lowest expression and then into a group of concepts that could not be questioned. While trying to write the book, I could not seem to give it a form that pleased me. The only things that were taking shape in my mind were short, spunky sentences that I didn’t know what to do with. Then, one day I simply allowed it all to come out in that very form. The result sent goose bumps along my spine because I really didn’t consciously plan the writing of these poems or koans. I would say, rather, that they imposed themselves. The fact that I never really planned to write them and that I didn’t even see them coming is what I like the most about the poems and it’s a pleasure for me to offer them to you. I hope you’ll enjoy them and that they may help us all get a better perspective of where we stand as a species in this physical universe of transforming matter. Before leaving you to your reading, all I’d like to add is that if we ever lose our right to free speech and our sense of humour, we could be losing our only door—our only entry point—to a path that could lead us to one day free ourselves.
