About the Book

We're sorry; this specific copy is no longer available. Here are our closest matches for Ozark Stories of the Upper Current River by Vickery, Margaret Ray.

A very good copy, the only signs of wear some bumping to corners. Undated, but after 1966, the latest date I noticed in a pleasant speed-read. A spiral-bound history of the Current River region, located in Southeastern Missouri; much of the river is protected by 2 parks and its designation as part of the Ozark National Scenic Riverways. Occupied for nearly 10,000 years, the area became a popular destination after the revolution, and by the early 19th century many mills had been established along the spring-fed river. Vickery's detailed history, illustrated with a fold-out map and numerous black/white photos, includes information about the natural history, the springs and caves, historic and scenic sites, legends and folklore, hardships of the civil war, and snippets of the lives of the people who have made the region their home; driving directions to areas of interest are offered as well. 8" x 10", 94 pages, with a brief list of references.[A].
