Gilbert Thayer is like to be Gilbert Lysceum Thayer who was born in Shumla, New York, in 1878 and died in Los Angeles in 1945. On his draft registration record he lists his occupation as "Self Publishing." That is certainly true, as pp. 196-205 list at least 10 books published by him, including a Cook Book, a book on curing the tobacco habit and a book entitled THE ABUSE OF THE MARRIAGE RELATION.
