16mo. (19 cm.) 31[1]p. Illustrated with 13 black and white captioned photos and numerous black and white drawings distributed throughout the text. Decorated title page. Two photos of the subject, George H.A. Burkhardt, one photo of his father George Jacob Burkhardt (d. 1896) and one photo of the author, Frank A. Burkhardt, son of George H.A. Burkhardt. Burkhardt Geneology ("A brief statement of Geneology of the Burkhart (sic) family pioneers of Auglaize County, Ohio") and Baptismal and Birth Record (translated into English). Stapled booklet in stiff green wrappers made to look like leather with letters in black on the front panel and a vignette in black on the front panel of a man leading a harnessed horse, as well as a vignette in black on the rear panel of several Canada Geese taking flight. Very minor wear to extremities spine slightly rubbed, lower right corner of front wrapper very lightly bumped, corners square and flat, no rust on the staples, else very good to near fine with no internal markings. This is the story of the pioneers days in America of the German immigrant George H. A. Burkhardt told and illustrated for juveniles. George Jacob Burkhardt (1818-1896) and his family immigrated in 1847 from Dreitsheim, Württemberg, Germany to Columbus, Ohio, and one of the children was George H.A. Burkhardt (1845-1922). The family moved in 1850 to Noble township, Mercer (later Auglaize) County, Ohio. Descendants and relatives lived in Ohio, California and elsewhere.
