Ex-library copy with usual markings. Book has been used a lot somewhat. The Author was born in the Indiana area in which the story "The Plums Hang High" takes place. So, too, was her mother whose parents came from England. From the grandmother came the author's background material. ".which started as a biography and ended as 'just a story'." Sense of place in this book is well developed. DJ illustration is extraord inary and tells a story in itself: a woman who appears small, alone, against an immense sky, bleak land looking up at a skeleton of a tree. Propped against the tree's leafless branches and bare trunk are symbols of her life, a baby cradle, a lantern, a ladder, a wagon wheel, a plow, etc. From the very top branch, tied with string is a plum. REALLY GOOD PRICE! InvCode zw39 ViewFair Books : Size: 5 ½ x 8 ½. Bookseller Inventory # 001504
