About this Item

EXTREMELY FRAGILE & RARE -- LANG'S BEST!! .Inspired by William Allington's 1869 "IN FAIRYLAND" ANDREW LANG'S MOST RARE & MUCH SOUGHT AFTER WORK, with Richard Doyle's Incomparable Fairy Art Work -- Graceful, Yet endearingly Cherub-like! ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL FAIRY BOOKS EVER PUBLISHED !! ANDREW LANG'S RARE ORIGINAL, FIRST AMERICAN PRINTING! The PRINCESS NOBODY, A Tale of Fairyland, Published in London by Longmans Green & Co. in 1884, New York Edition Printed by Edmund Evans, with Glazed Color Pictorial Boards. VERY Attractive, with only light edge and corner wear, strong. First Printing, in Above Average Condition, Complete in 56 pages plus both front & rear end papers! A Delicate Book, Rarely found Complete, including original illustrated end papers, with no missing parts or pieces. Only real flaw is that, as is almost always the case with this book, there are 2 double page chromo illustrations with some chromo-to-chromo stuck together areas near the spine edges, as can be seen in the images. 7 1/2" x 9 1/2". VERY CLEAN, NO FOXING! Truly Scarce collaboration between Richard Doyle, with his Classic Color Fairy Plates first done in 1869 for "IN FAIRYLAND" from the same publishers, and Andrew Lang. These wonderful pictures done by Doyle were irresistible to Lang and he wrote a new story that used the same images and creatures. 56 pages, with 25 color illustrations (2 double-paged, thus the 27 color pages total, shown in scans) and 31 sepia illustrations. Lovely 888 Gift Inscription on front blank page, otherwise No Marks or Coloring NO DAMAGE! GUARANTEED AUTHENTIC FIRST AMERICAN PRINTING -- Oh SO RARE!!. Bookseller Inventory # 000007
