About this Item

HOPE, Anthony. THE PRISONER OF ZENDA. NY: Henry Holt, 1894. 12mo., buckram cloth, stamped in red, top edge gilt. First American Edition, published the same year as the first English edition. A book that has been the basis for at least four movie adaptations, beginning in 1913. The best film adaptation is probably the 1937 David O. Selznick movie, starring Douglas Fairbanks Jr., David Niven, Mary Astor and Raymond Massey. Also filmed by MGM in 1952. A very good copy of a poorly produced volume (small reproduced photograph of Hope tipped to front pastedown). $125.00. Bookseller Inventory # 10365
