Publisher: Jackson: Printed For The Society

Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good
407pp. First edition. Original cloth, offsetting to one fixed endpaper, else fine, in a beautiful plain paper dust jacket with a rectangle carefully cut out of the spine to reveal the title of the book beneath it. I wonder if that’s how these were issued. This is the first of this series I’ve had in a dust jacket. The bulk of this volume – 161 pages – contains ‘My Journal, The Story Of A Soldier’s Life Told By Himself,’ the wartime diary of William Pitt Chambers, a prewar teacher who joined the 46th Mississippi and served at Vicksburg and with the Army of Tennessee through Missionary Ridge, Kennesaw Mountain, Atlanta, Mobile and Meridian. Also includes ‘A History Of Mississippi College,’ and a biography of West Florida Gov. Peter Chester. Bookseller Inventory # ABE-11898188231
