About this Item

1756 "The Second Edition, carefully corrected, with additions". Bound in period, green/grey paper boards, with a tan cloth spine. The front cover is almost fully detached, with the cloth at the top of the spine being frayed, and the covers' edges being rubbed. A small library label on the lower spine. Library bookplate on the inner front cover, with the frontpaper detached. viii, 747 generally clean and crisp pages, with varied amounts of foxing. Followed by 2 pages of errata, and a 3 page catalog of books by George Benson. I notice one leaf with part of the margin removed (pages 565/566, with no loss of text. Both endpapers are intact. The pages' edges are untrimmed. The pages measure 8-1/2 inches by 11 inches, and the book is about 3 inches thick. There is a small, faint, 1811 inscription on the frontpaper. There is no label on the spine, with "Benson's Paraphrase Epistles II" being handwritten in ink. I don't see any library stamps on the pages, just a pencilled accession number on the frontpaper. We also acquired with this volume, George Benson's 1752 "A Paraphrase and Notes on Six of the Epistles of St. Paul", which is being sold separately. Bookseller Inventory # 12848
