About this title

Synopsis:

If there is one thing that is of the utmost importance in the study of ballet it is that the early development of the dancer is vitally important. Without this early training no dancer can feel the true flow of movement so necessary later on. This book will help guide parents through the joys of a classical training and prepare the young dancer to make the ultimate choice about a career. Choices and timing are essential in this decision: where to study, whether and when to attend a boarding school, how to find the right teacher, when to go on pointe... This book finally puts things in order...it explains in clear words the pros and cons of the ballet process. [From the Foreword by David Howard]

Review:

Though designed as a guidebook for parents, this book about ballet for young dancers is of great interest to the dancers themselves. It provides a glimpse into the entire ballet training process from the beginning years to professional ballet school as a young adult. It tells where to study, whether or when to attend a boarding school, how to find the right teacher and much more.

The store has two levels and ceilings high enough for salvaged local antique streetlights; it has an open industrial feel with exposed brick walls, stained concrete floors and salvaged metal on counters and facades. Our books are well organized and curated by 12 avid readers and diligent booksellers. We sell new, second hand and rare books of many topics with strong selections of literature, art, history, juvenile books and local culture. We also sell e-books via the KOBO link on our website. Additionally, Weller Book Works sells practical books, like cooking, self-help, crafts and how-to. We order new books and search for out-of-print and rare copies. In addition to books, we sell journals, cards, literary T-shirts and gift items. Our Rare Book Department showcases fine and collectible books of all topics with special expertise in Local History, Mormonism and Literature.
