RARE, VERY GOOD, COMPLETELY UNMARKED Hardcover. 1904 J M Dent 1st Edition, 1st Printing. No DJ as issued Unusual to find a copy of this book in such SURPRISINGLY WELL-PRESERVED condition. We make every effort to describe our books fully,warts and all, so you can avoid the need to email for key details as to condition or risk an unfortunate surprise. Book is illustrated by Katherine Kimball and O.F. M. Ward and includes 49 color plates, 49 smaller illustrations throughout the text as well as 24 photos and 3 maps, one being a tri-fold map of Paris in 1590 facing page 175. All illustrations and maps are in FINE condition with colors bright as new. Original tissue covering frontispiece is in Perfect condition. Book is completely unmarked; no bookseller stamps, stickers or written notes on condition; no remainder or publisher overstock marks on book edges; no x-library detritus; no po signature, gift inscriptions, bookplates, seals, notes, underlining or soiling of any kind. Only “warts” keeping the copy from being rated Fine are some very faint age mottling on inside of coverboards; some fading to back cover and sun fading to spine. Green cloth cover boards are square and straight. Front cover has elaborate gilt decoration and titles which is bright and unfaded. Spine is straight and uncreased with no leaning or cocking with a trace of wear at the spine ends. Corners are unworn. Binding is strong and tight. Pages show no signs of toning or yellowing from age; pages are crisp, clean and bright; there are no missing, loose, damaged or soiled pages.
