About this title

Synopsis:

A straightforward presentation, with a variety of interesting and informative illustrations and charts, of what the Federal Parliament consists of, and how it is organized and does its business; an excellent explanation for general reader or classroom use of the nature and process of the Government of Canada.

Includes Introductory Remarks by the Clerk of the House of Commons.

About the Author:

John Bejermi began his career at fourteen as a House of Commons Page. His educational background includes political science and business administration. His love of Parliament led to his creating and teaching a course at Algonquin College in Ottawa on How Parliament Works, as well as producing and hosting the longest running openline live political call-in show Openline Politics on community cablevision. His "The Canadian Parliamentary Handbook / le Répertoire parlementaire canadien" is the only annual reference book in Canada containing individual photographs, detailed constituency data, and committee service information, as well as other valuable information about each Parliamentarian. When first released in 1982, the book was so well received by Parliament that the Senate and the House passed separate motions of congratulations. John is one of the few House of Commons employees in the history of Parliament to have received such rare unanimous congratulations from both Houses.

His life ambition has been to inform Canadians about their Parliament. He strongly believes that when Canadians understand their Parliament, they are able to use it effectively.
