Parusa, Stikhotvoreniia, 1930 [Sails, Poems, 1930]

Stapled wraps, cover illustration by M. Ia. Shchirovsky; pp. 20, plus a b/w photo-illustration showing the old town of Tsaritsa Irene on the Danube. Text block detached from wraps; lacking the frontispiece and one leaf (pp. 5-6); overall a little wavy (likely a bit water-damaged). Certainly not a pretty copy, but very scarce, and a bit mysterious: Two other books of Iazykov were published by Slovo, an expatriate Russian printing house in Shaghai, in 1933 and 1937. This title does not appear in OCLC, according to which only 12 books were published by Slovo, in Shanghai, from 1932-1942. The poems include "Wreath of Wheat," "Chestnuts on the Duna," "Old Town of Ts. Irina," "Rover's Map from Shanghai to Europe," "Duel / Single Combat," "Cavalryman," "White Sail," "Frozen Rose," "Sails of My Grief," "On the Street," and "Saint Savva." The author's signature appears in the lower margin on p. 7, with his pencilled corrections -- "Smedervo" is underlined (a town just south of Belgrade), with "Yugoslavia 1930" crossed out.
