Edition: Volume XVIII Stated, Old Manse Ed..
A very handsome edition hard bound in publisher's red full cloth covers. 585 numbered pages. All page ends finished and top in gilt. Upper spine cover states; "Hawthorne's Works XVIII.' Half-title page states 'Old Manse Edition' The Complete Writings of Nathaniel Hawthorne with Portraits, Illustrations, and Facsmiles in Twenty-Two Volumes Volume XVIII. Latest copyright date '1900' on back of title page. A bare hint of rubbing to a few edges. Hard to even notice. Insignificent. Page ends a birt soiled. A few minor light foxing spots on title, half title pages and two blank pages before. DJ is essentially complete and is from the publisher with printing on spine cover. Front and back and flaps of DJ are blank. DJ is fragile and has general light soiling. Some DJ edges have chipping with small pieces missing. Most unusual to find publisher's original dust jack. As of this listing; 115 years old. Book is tight, clean, complete and has clean internals. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Bookseller Inventory # 065293
