There is a nice introduction card signed by Mary Lou McDonald paperclipped to FEP.The 1st vol. is profusely illustrated with b/w vintage photographs, engravings and portraits. The 2nd volume of the series is to endeavor to lay a foundation which future historians and genealogists will be able to use, The area is rich in human population as evidenced by the discovery of tribes of native peoples when Spanish explorers landed. Also an area rich in pine trees. Today there has been a deforestation of these native resources. 415 pp including index. Illustrated with vintage photographs and maps. There a a number of pages dog-eared and highlited in yellow. Vol 3. 1992. Large green 4to with the title in Gilt on the front cover. There is a map of Wilcox, GA as a frontis-piece. The author acknowleges the cooperative effort of many Wilcox County citizens, past. Each contribution has greatly enriched the conent and value of this work. There is a nice picture of the Pine enviorment of Wilcox County. The pine forests were a jewel of the the area. The Willcox family moved from North Carolina to the area in the mid-nineteeth century. 303 pp including index. vintage photographs are embedded throughout the volume.
