Hardcover. 9 1/4" X 6 1/4". 383pp. Inscribed by contributor Laurraine Goreau, author of the last chapter, "Mardi Gras" and biographer of Mahalia Jackson, to her sister on half-title page. Moderate wear to dust jacket, with small tears to edges and extremities and scattered rubbing. Blue cloth over boards, with upper board and spine lettered in dark blue, with gilt to upper board. Mild shelfwear to binding, corners still sharp, with heavy foxing and yellowing to cloth. Foxing to edges of text block. Pictorial endpapers. Pages are clean and unmarked.
