Synopsis: Written for pastoral counselors, chaplains and pastors: Issues surrounding Multiple Personality Disorder-- Dissociaitve Identity Disorder-- particularly with narratives of cultic ritual abuse, present unique challenges for providers of clincial pastoral care. The application of process theology, appreciation of a broad range of God ideation, awareness of child abuse and adolecent spirituality, and a biblical hermeneutic that includes object relation theroy and anthropology, are all areas to which pastoral care can assert primary claim. Issues surrounding "cultic ritual abuse" should be subject to pastoral consultation and approached with non-anxious skill and clarity. This latter will become increasingly important as these issues meet the scrutiny of popular media and anxious Christian groups with which dissociative persons may have contact.
