The spine ends contain open tears across the width of the spine with the longest tear measuring 3/4" in length. The corners and edges also contain chipping and closed tears with the longest measuring 1". There is also some fading along the length of the spine. This book is a young adult vocational novel in which the author blends a fictional story with the realities of life as a veterinarian. Penny Austin, the main character, is forced by illness to postpone college and instead spends time in the country with her uncle. Helping him in his small animal practice, Penny gains confidence and purpose and must decide whether to return to her previous life or remain where she has found happiness . A vintage copy of a book that gives insights into what a veterinarian's life is like with an entertaining story. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Bookseller Inventory # 001333
