Signed by author. FOREWORD ~ An interest in the industries located along the waterways of the towns in Washington County, a.k.a. 'South County,' soon indicated that besides the textiles, and machinery of all types being produced in the area, that there was a considerable history to be found in the marine industry in the area. After some years of compiling the industries noted above, it was as if I could see a light shining at the end of the tunnel, ie, now what to do with what I had collected? There seemed to be no answer, other than that I could now spout all that I had read and collected with ease.
