Wonderful steel engravings after the masters, the plates in these two volumes in very good condition. Extensive catalogue of the collections of the Munich galleries at that time as well as Payne's Book of Art, which includes folk tales and travel recollections. The engraved title page featuring a woman falconer, surrounded with an elaborate vignette. Additional plates include The Wine Commission (evaluating the wine); The Fiddler; the Checkmate; the Falconry; 'Cock Fighting' (color plate); Barber letting blood; Boys eating fruit. Each plate with elaborate vignettes within the decorative borders. Both volumes with the engraved bookseller label of Hugh Hopkins, Glasgow; with the binder label Maslehose, Glasgow.Three quarter green leather binding with green buckram. Gilt titles and gilt decorated raised bands at spines. Vol. I:163pp; Vol. II:165pp, aeg. Corners bumped, a bit scratched, spine ends rubbed. The engravings in excellent condition.
